The North Sea Jazz Festival, one of the highlights on the international jazz event calendar, will launch the inaugural North Sea Jazz Cruise on July 5.

Jazz lovers who want to add special edge to the festival experience will board the world-class Holland America ocean liner 'Rotterdam' in Copenhagen with ports of call in Warnemunde / Berlin, Germany; Gotenburg, Sweden; Oslo, Norway; and Hamburg-Elbe River in Germany. The Oslo fjord and the Elbe River are some of the sightseeing highlights. The luxury liner will then dock in Rotterdam and serve as a “floating hotel" for the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival, July 13-17.

Cruise guests will receive a special VIP festival package which includes tickets for the festival, VIP entrance privileges (no waiting in line) as well as special onboard performances while in harbour.

Timeless Destinations has been appointed as managing travel partner for Jazz Cruises LLC, the world's foremost producer of full-charter luxury jazz cruises.

Timeless Destinations of Miami Florida is a specialized tour and travel company, owned by former South Africans, who have appointed Henry Shields and Alan Chiat of Music Makers-South Africa as Marketing Ambassadors.

Shields says: “This is the most innovative and attractive jazz product I have seen in years. The idea of cruising up the Oslo Fjord on one of the worlds finest cruise liners, while hearing the best contemporary jazz artists in a perfect setting, is about as good as it gets in the way of international jazz offerings".

Hosting and serving as artistic director is Grammy winning award winning bassist, composer and producer Marcus Miller, who is assembling a great lineup of musicians for this unique and spectacular cruise. These include Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Roy Hargrove, Roberta Gambarini, David Sanborn, James Carter and McCoy Tyner.

Cape Town music producers, Shields & Chiat, have secured a block booking at special inaugural prices. Shields advises: “Until now, Jazz Cruises LLC have mainly operated in the Caribbean. These cruises were the best-kept secret because most of the bookings were repeat business. A few South Africans, such as jazz journalist Don Albert, have experienced these cruises and observed that many people book for subsequent cruises while still onboard the ship. Due to the increased number of cruises, the expansion to Europe, and the fortunate connection with South African tour experts in Miami, we hope that many more South Africans will enjoy this experience."
