Music Network, the national music development agency, invites young jazz musicians to apply for the Young Musicwide award 2007. Young Musicwide is a unique professional development scheme designed to assist a selected group of Ireland's brightest young musicians at the beginning of their professional career. The award this year is open to jazz ensembles of any instrumentation up to a maximum of five people. The closing date for completed applications is Friday 15th June 2007. Through an audition process in September, an Irish or Ireland based jazz ensemble, with a proven interest in performance will be selected to participate in the Young Musicwide Award programme for three years.
Modelled on international examples, the Young Musicwide programme is designed to provide up to three musicians or ensembles annually with an incentive to pursue a professional career in music performance, and to provide promoters nationwide with access to the very best of emerging Irish talent. The main features of the award are:
Previous jazz ensembles to receive the award include Organics jazz trio in 2004 who released their debut CD, New Light" under the scheme. As recipients of the award they have toured Ireland extensively during the past three years, performing in many of Music Network's one hundred and forty partner promoter venues. Since early 2007, Organics have joined Music Network's roster of artists, the international strand of which will see them perform at Glasgow Arts Festival in June with support from Culture Ireland.
Other recipients of the award include the Callino Quartet (2001); voice and piano duo Ailish Tynan and Deborah Kelleher (2002); clarinettist Carol McGonnell (2003); traditional group Slide (2005), piano, cello and violin trio The Syrius Trio (2006) and harp, flute and viola trio, Triocca (2006).

- A Dublin showcase concert.
- After a 2/3year period, an invitation to the group, subject to agreement, to join the Musicwide programme proper.
