Preliminary plans for the event, which begins Friday evening with a wine tasting at the hotel, will include a weekend-long exhibition of local artists from Art Encounter featuring works for purchase, a special area for children's entertainment, as well as a line-up of talented prominent local and national jazz musicians performing on a specially constructed outdoor stage Sunday.
“We are expecting approximately 2,500 jazz fans and art enthusiasts to attend the event on the holiday weekend," said the hotel's general manager, Harold Johnson. “This event will be the first of many on the mountain to bring together artists and musicians and showcase their talents in a unique atmosphere. It will also present people with a wonderful option for beating the heat during a long weekend since our temperatures are typically between 25 and 30 degrees cooler than Las Vegas."
The outdoor activities begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with a vendor exhibition and children's entertainment area, complete with moon bounce, face painter and more, as well as an art exhibit. Saturday evening, the hotel will host a charity gala with half of each ticket's price being donated to local charities. Sunday's activities begin at 11 a.m. with an outdoor vendor and art exhibition and live music. The commencement of the day's concerts with a fly-over courtesy of the U.S. Air Force after a performance by students from the Las Vegas Academy. Sunday's confirmed musicians include local artists Grammy winner Larry White, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Jazz Band and the Marty Mahoney Band. Headliners include the Steven Lee Group, Pete Radd, Drumjungle, Kool and the Gang and Fattburger. Performances begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday and continue until approximately 7 p.m.
Tickets for the Friday wine tasting are $44 per person. Saturday's daytime activities are free. The gala Saturday evening costs $500 per plate. Sunday's daylong concert is $44 per person. Sponsorships and partnerships are available.
