All releases are as close to the vinyl original as a CD format can be.

disc in black vinyl design - with a groove

booklet with legible reprints of liner notes, all original informations, and additional retro-spective comments

CD gatefold packaging (CD size mini LP) as downsize replica of original LP, incl. inner sleeve

All of this held from an outer sleeve surrounding the CD size mini LP in full

The subtle re-mastering is trying to get as close as possible to the warmth of the vinyl original

Once there was a time when small German record labels were highly acclaimed internationally. There are a few left overs where this is the case until today.

Apart from the still going ECM this counts for BRAIN on the (kraut) rock end, and on the jazzy end of things for MPS (this stands for MusikProduktion Schwarzwald = music production black forest). English speaking fans made out of MPS “Most Perfect Sound" (and we transferred that to “most promising sound", which we consider being slightly less arrogant).

This is what it is. And more than that.

MPS was founded by Hans-Georg Brunner-Schwer, who owned the Electronic equipment company SABA. Brunner-Schwer was a huge Jazz fan and became a patron for Jazz musicians from around the world. MPS recordings took place from 1957 up to 1983. During that time a catalogue of more than 400 titles arouse.

German based label promising music plans to release around 15 original albums from the MPS catalogue per year. The first six releases are listed on top of these news.

...future releases will include recordings by

PORK PIE

JEAN-LUC PONTY

ALPHONSE MOUZON

ERNEST RANGLIN

BARNEY WILEN

JAN HAMMER

STEPHANE GRAPPELLI

DEE DEE, BARRY & THE MOVEMENTS

ROLF & JOACHIM KUHN
