Manchester will sing her timeless classics as well as featuring jazz selections from the “American Popular Songbook" on Friday night, January 28, 2005 in the resort's Grand Ballroom. Then, on Saturday night January 29, incomparable jazz legend Dave Brubeck returns with the Dave Brubeck Quartet. This marks the third time in the last four years Brubeck will perform at the “All That Jazz" Weekend.
“Melissa (Manchester) is an undeniable diva," said Entertainment Director Maddy Winer. “She is the first major female star we have booked for our 'All That Jazz' Weekend. When you add Brubeck, it makes for a blockbuster weekend of entertainment."
Earlier this year, Manchester released her new album, When I Look Down That Road. The album is singer-songwriter-musician's first work of all new material in 10 years.
Jazz legend Dave Brubeck and The Dave Brubeck Quartet return to kickoff their 2005 tour at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa. Brubeck's experimentation with time signatures unusual to jazz, produced works like “Blue Rondo a la Turk" and “Take Five," introducing millions of enthusiastic young listeners to unexplored regions of jazz.
As always, the “All That Jazz" Weekend will feature evening and afternoon concerts in our Grand Ballroom, numerous jazz artists performing in our Great Hall all weekend long, “Meet the Artists" receptions following each evening concert and a Saturday morning jazz clinic.
