Jack Wilkins Debuts on MAXJAZZ

Until It's Time
Release date: June 16

Guitarist Jack Wilkins has been a part of the international jazz scene for many years recording and touring since the early 1970's. His flawless technique and imaginative chordal approach have inspired collaborations with Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Bob Brookmeyer, Buddy Rich and many others. On his MAXJAZZ string series debut, Until It's Time, Wilkins presents a fresh take on eleven classic and contemporary standards including “Arthur's Theme," “Show Me," “These Foolish Things," and “Two For The Road" among others. His quartet features some stellar musicians including Jon Cowherd (p), Steve LaSpina (b) and Mark Ferber (d). Producer and fellow guitarist, Jeff Barone, joins Wilkins on James Taylor's “Blossom."

When he's not touring, Wilkins stays busy teaching at a number of colleges and universities including The New School, NYU, Long Island University and the Manhattan School of Music. He was recently invited to judge the Monk Institute Guitar Competition in Washington. He also conducts seminars and guitar clinics, both in New York and abroad.

Upcoming Release from John Proulx

Baker's Dozen (Remembering Chet Baker)
Release date: July 21

Vocalist/pianist John Proulx (pronounced “Prue") is ready to move you again! His 2006 MAXJAZZ debut, Moon And Sand, received critical acclaim. Many journalists have remarked that Proulx's voice is very similar to the late Chet Baker. On his upcoming release, “Baker's Dozen" (Remembering Chet Baker), Proulx offers a fresh take on a number of standards popularized by Baker. “Baker's Dozen" features some stellar musicians including Dominick Farinacci on trumpet and flugelhorn, Chuck Berghofer on bass and Joe LaBarbera on drums.

Since the release of “Moon and Sand," Proulx has appeared with the likes of Natalie Cole, Michael Feinstein, Bobby Shew and Marian McPartland. Proulx is also a Grammy-winning composer having co-written the song “These Golden Years," recorded by Nancy Wilson for her Grammy-winning CD, Turned to Blue.
