Veteran bassist/composer Mario Pavone will celebrate his new October release, Orange (Playscape), with a three-stop mini-tour of New York City in December featuring his all-star Nu Trio/Quintet. Orange is the follow-up to the group's 2002 release, Mythos (Playscape), which was named to best of the year lists in the Village Voice, allaboutjazz.com and slate.com. Pavone has been an active jazz performer since the late 60's, with a career characterized by fruitful long-term collaborations with Anthony Braxton, Thomas Chapin, Bill Dixon, Marty Ehrlich, and most recently guitarist/Playscape Recordings founder, Michael Musillami.
Very, very few jazz bassists can cover the range that Mario Pavone swings on Orange."
