Krakow for New Orleans Victims of Katrina

On Sunday September 11, 2005 Krakow jazz musicians and Polska Akcja Humanitarna will organize a special “ New Orleans Sunday" - an afternoon jazz concert to raise money to help the victims of hurricane Katrina. From 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. seven prominent Polish bands: Jazz Band Ball Orchestra, Boba Jazz Band, Old Metropolitan, Beale Street Band, Hot Swing, Renata Świerczyńska and others will play traditional jazz on the stage under the Town Hall at the Main Market Square in Krakow. Janina Ochojska, the president of PAH and U . S . Consul General Kenneth Fairfax plan to make opening remarks and express special appreciation to Cracovians for their offerings of help and support.

New Orleans Sunday is a special event of the Summer Jazz Festival held in Krakow in July every year. The organizers of the festival and Polish relief agency Polska Akcja Humanitarna want to devote this special Sunday concert to the victims of hurricane Katrina and collect funds which will be distributed to non governmental organizations in the U . S.
