Music was the second most-funded category behind film & video last year, according to stats just shared by Kickstarter. In total, music projects rallied $19,801,685 (and 21 cents), a healthy chunk of nearly $100 million in pledges in 2011. That is more than triple the volume, though we don't have a music-specific breakdown from 2010.
Not all of those pledges turned into green lights, though a substantial amount of pledged money was collected. “84 percent of dollars pledged on Kickstarter are eventually collected," Kickstarter cofounder Yancey Strickler shared.
