About Karen Rodriguez
Ms. Rodriguez is the real deal. Others may attempt to convey a Latin sound by singing a bossa nova or a samba once in awhile, but Latin music is in Rodriguez's DNAHer parents are from Puerto Rico and she speaks, teaches and sings in Spanish. Seeing and hearing Karen perform live is like walking into a Cuban nightclub circa 1950, but her Latin sound would not be complete without the percussive voice of Mariano Medina, a master of the congas and timbales, pianist Suzzette Ortiz and bassist Juan Medina.
