NEW YORK, NY – The Buckingham Hotel, the “home away from home” to generations of music legends, will welcome jazz performers and jazz aficionados alike to New York, June 13th – 25th as the official host hotel to New York City’s 2005 JVC Jazz Festival. This year's festival kicks off in New York with 12 amazing nights of exciting music at Carnegie Hall.

The storied property is located just across the street from Carnegie Hall, the prime venue for the New York festival’s concerts, which will include performances with more than 300 artists including Béla Fleck, Stanley Clarke, Jean-Luc Ponty, Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland in nearly 60 shows. “Last year we saw Lou Reed in our lobby. It was a truly historic event,” said hotelier Stephen Shapiro. “With the likes of Béla Fleck, Chick Corea, Les Paul, Jack Dejohnett and Wayne Shorter performing, this year will be no exception.” The Buckingham has long been host to the world’s greatest musical performers; like jazz great Gato Barbieri, piano legend Van Cliburn, Paquito D’Rivera and more.

Starting June 13th, hotel guests will not only be able to enjoy the Buckingham’s extensive lending library of history-making Carnegie Hall jazz performances, but will also be eligible to win a pair of JVC Noise-Canceling Headphones, six of which are being randomly awarded to lucky guests booking their hotel rooms through the JVC promotion during the Festival. JVC, official sponsor of the Jazz Festival, is one of the world's largest manufacturers of high quality audio and video products.

The premiere performance of the festival is by legendary banjo player Béla Fleck. Fleck has virtually reinvented the image and sound of the banjo through a remarkable performing and recording career that has taken him all over the musical map and on a range of solo projects and collaborations. Born and reared in New York City, Fleck began his musical career playing the guitar and has come back to his native city to put on memorable performance.

Carnegie Hall opens its doors on Friday, June 17, at 8:00 p.m. to Wayne Shorter Quartet and the Dave Holland Quintet, two former band mates and jazz legends of Miles Davis' electric bands. The sublime trio of Keith Jarrett (piano), Jack DeJohnette (drums), Gary Peacock (bass) returns to the JVC Jazz Festival this year on Wednesday, June 22, at 8:00 p.m. as well.

Concerts continue with a venue by Two Times Three, featuring TRIO! Stanley Clarke, Béla Fleck and Jean-Luc Ponty, plus another threesome starring Paul Motian, Bill Frisell and Joe Lovano. Together, the six music masters will come together in two exciting groups on Thursday, June 23, at 8:00 p.m. for an exciting round-up show. Trio! is a genre-crossing collaboration of award-winning artists who came together to explore their musical diversity and talents as a unit.

Together JVC Jazz festival and the Buckingham Hotel affords the concert-goer a unique opportunity to cover many musical genres including jazz, blues, R&B, world, salsa all within a two-week period in one city.
