J.P. DeLaire, noted sideman for Prince and Michael Bolton, has released his debut solo CD, In My Life on Tender Girl Music. This collection of original compositions was produced by DeLaire and is a rich musical menu that ranges from contemporary jazz to the Minneapolis funk of his native roots.

As member of the legendary musical Peterson Family of Minneapolis, DeLaire was schooled in straight ahead jazz and R & B. He has shared the stage with greats including Oleta Adams, Alexander ONeal, Richard Marx, Solo, Donny Osmond and Cherrelle. DeLaire has also worked with famed producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

In My Life was mixed and mastered by super sound engineer Steve Hodge (Janet Jackson, Flyte Time Productions), and radio music programmers have already begun playing cuts. It features DeLaire's sexy, soulful vocals, as well as his keyboard artistry and smooth saxophone.

Listeners will love the hard-hitting message of “The Prodigal Son." Mico Wave lends Roger Troutman-inspired Talk Box assistance on DeLaires slow groove, “I Need Your Love." Never Enough is a sensuous ballad reminiscent of Mint Condition, while DeLaire delivers sinister funk on “Gotta Keep The Funk Alive." It's a tribute to the Funk Pioneers with references to The Time, Prince, Rick James, Zapp, and Earth, Wind and Fire.

I think that there are many fans of the Minneapolis Sound that are hungry for something new from the Minneapolis scene. “The lyrics are original but the grooves weve laid down will be a homecoming for a lot of listeners out there, said DeLaire.

The video of In My Life highlights DeLaire's extraordinary talents and was one of the most viewed videos on YouTube in 2008. The video contains emotionally riveting messages of hope and change and was dedicated to the campaign of President Barack Obama. We are a nation that is hungry to know the truth behind what is being presented to us, said DeLaire. The video can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yCtb3gbjp4.

About the artist:

J.P. (Jason Peterson) DeLaire is a member of the well-known musical Peterson Family of Minneapolis, MN. A master of both keyboards and saxophone, DeLaire also writes and performs his own music and lyrics. Singing for me is my most natural attribute. Ive made my living as a sideman for all these years and I felt it was time for me to step out front with my own voice, said DeLaire.

DeLaire's uncle, St. Paul Peterson, starred in the movie Purple Rain, as a member of The Time, and later went on to be the lead singer of The Family. When DeLaire saw Purple Rain, he was inspired to follow his dreams and pursue a musical career.

A graduate of the Berklee School of Music in Boston, where he studied film score and musical harmony, DeLaire has also extended his impressive artistic reach into the field of acting. He has several projects in the works.

DeLaire is currently touring with Michael Bolton on The Very Best of Me.
