2014 “Jazz Nights with Nineteen” Concert Series Features Jazz, Blues and Roots Music Artist Performing Original Compositions

SARATOGA, CA – Today, the South Bay-based big band, Nineteen, directed by Eric Bolvin, announced a guest- artist concert featuring the talents of jazz, blues and roots music artist, John Lee Sanders, on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Theatre on San Pedro Square in San Jose, California, at 8:00 p.m.

Multi-instrumentalist, Emmy nominated composer, and arranger, John Lee Sanders comes from deep musical roots cultivated through his early years in the Mississippi Delta, Alabama, the bayous of Louisiana, and the plains of Texas. John received degrees in classical and jazz composition from the University of North Texas and the University of Louisiana, and Film Scoring at San Jose State University. His music exhibits a deep love of the traditions, and culture of New Orleans. John Lee has shared the stage, opened for, recorded or toured with many legends of the last 50 years, including Jimmy Page, Stevie Wonder, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Starship, Bill Withers, Chuck Berry, Bonnie Raitt, Freddie King, John Lee Hooker, Tower of Power, and many more. His songs have been recorded by Eddie Kendricks of the Temptations, Aretha Franklin, and Marsha Ball, who received a Grammy nomination, for Blues CD of the Year, with a hit single composed by John Lee. He is a 2012 Canadian Maple Blues award nominee for Piano Player of the Year

Nineteen is a premiere ensemble of Bay Area professional musicians, with a 30-year tradition of playing the best in contemporary and traditional big band jazz. Nineteen has brought world-renowned artists to Silicon Valley including Don Menza, Ernie Watts, Dave Liebman, Jerry Bergonzi, Steve Smith, Dave Weckl, Russell Ferrante, Jeff Lorber, Carl Saunders, Wayne Bergeron, Grant Geismann, Greg Adams, Kim Nalley, Wayne Wallace, and Gordon Goodwin.

Jazz Nights with Nineteen is a guest-concert series run in conjunction with The Tabard Theatre Company and features world- class jazz artists at a reasonable cost in an intimate setting.
