Two veteran Columbus singers return to home base from France and New York for a concert at the historic Garden Theater located at 1187 North High St, Columbus, Ohio. The concert of sassy blues and torchy ballads is billed as “a celebration of life, love and female mood swings”, and will be in The Green Room venue at the theater on Friday, January 3, from 8-10 pm. This will be the debut of the concert which will then be repeated in New York at The Underground Lounge on January 25th.

Jennifer Milligan, originally from Westerville, is now one part of the duo Lil’ Red & The Rooster along with French guitar sensation Pascal Fouquet. She will be teaming up with jazz and blues singer Eileen Howard, who now resides in New York where she working as an actor and singer. Howard released her critically acclaimed live album “Blues in the Green Room” in 2013 and is now teaming up with Milligan and returning to the same venue for this concert, dubbed “Wild Women Swing the Blues”.

Tickets are available online at shortnorthsta ge.org or at the door for $15.00.

Milligan and Howard, both award-winning actresses, have performed together before in the well-reviewed Blue Plate Special and in Oh Jackie, in which Milligan played Jackie Kennedy. But this will be their first time together in concert. The show features classic blues, new originals and duets.

“Last time I was in Columbus, I caught a Lil’ Red & Rooster show.”, said Howard. “I knew Jennifer and Pascal usually stopped for a few days in New York when visiting the States, and I had the idea of collaborating. When we found out we would also be in Columbus at the same time after the holidays, it was an easy step to add the show at The Garden with the Short North Stage theatre company. We are very excited about working together in both cities.”

L.A. Jazz Scene called Howard “a singer well worth discovering.” The Blues Music Blog said, “She harnesses the genre as one of those rare entertainers with the sensitivity and witty flair to deeply evoke the human sensibilities." Deejay Fritz (The Night Owl) called her “One of the most creative and swingin’ singers ever to vocalize on the local jazz scene.” And music review blog, Wileys World said, “Eileen Howard sings like a Diva, vamps like a Rat-Pack veteran and generally entertains like few others can...”

In France, reviews for Milligan and Fouquet have been equally positive. “Ca swingue!", praised highly-respected Soul Bag Magazine. And, from Fred Delforge, in Zicazic, “The exceptionally graceful and virtuoso guitar of Pascal Fouquet takes you into a fourth dimension magnified by Jennifer Milligan's voice, a cross between crooner and diva !." Blues & Co Magazine called Milligan, “... a fresh voice, shamelessly reminiscent of the essential quality of jazzy postwar R&B.”
