The Jeff Albert Quartet will perform Friday, April 7, at The Green Room (521 E. Boston St., Covington) at 10:00 PM. The quartet has appeared regularly at The Green Room, which is quickly emerging as a top notch music venue on the Northshore. About The Green Room, Albert says, “it is a very cool space. They have art on the walls, and the vibe encourages creativity. The room is laid out in such a way that we can play acoustically, which allows the music to really breathe and develop organically. The people aren't a typical jazz crowd, they just dig good music, which is good. That leaves us totally open to play whatever comes to us."

The next night, Saturday, April 8, the quartet will play one show at midnight at Snug Harbor. “These midnight shows are very cool. They open up the doors to the music room, and don't charge a cover. This makes the atmosphere a little more relaxed, and it turns into a fun hang with good music. It also lets things become more adventursome musically," adds Albert.

Monday, April 17 brings the Jeff Albert Quartet to their first appearance at dba, in the Monday night jazz spot. Jeff says, “a lot of good music has been made at dba on Monday nights, and we look forward to holding up that tradition on the 17th." The band will be performing music from Albert's new Lakefront Digital CD entitled One, as well as classic jazz compositions by Monk, Mingus, and Ornette Coleman, and not yet recorded original material. Jeff's CD One has been well received worldwide. It has been featured on radio and in podcasts in the US, Germany, France, Ireland, and Japan. The track “Neon Monkey" is currently in the All About Jazz Daily Download Top 50 (all time) at www.allaboutjazz.com.

What people are saying:

“The tunes are wonderully melodic and rhythmically infectious. Jeff has taken the music of Ornette, Monk and the Meters and created his own voice"--David Gibson, musician

One is a fine album that proudly displays its New Orleans roots as it never leaves the groove too far behind. But the music is also advanced post-bop played by incredibly sympathetic musicians resulting in a great group dynamic. Strong, accessible music"--WNUR FM Evanston, IL.

Jeff Albert's One is a great statement by a fine musician leading a killer band. They cover a wide range of music, from solemn to playful to swinging to exploring, with a direct, honest expressiveness that gets straight to the point. Great stuff!"--Jeb Bishop, musician
