Poet and musician Brant Lyon brings together some of the finest, most distinguished poets and vocal artists in New York to perform in the beat tradition accompanied by woodwinds, guitar and percussion.
The event also features an open mike for poets. Bring your original work and read it for an appreciative audience.
Jazz musicians are welcome to sit in on jazz standards with the house band, which includes Karla Harby on concert and Native American flutes.
The 5C Cultural Center is a comfortable East Village establishment that serves healthy foods and drink. Many distinguished jazz artists have performed here over the years, most recently Jason Moran.
