Matchmaking: special 'Overseas Relations' networking opportunity on the lead to the digital jazz trade fair.
And we’re on: jazzahead!, the world's largest international jazz trade fair, was obliged to take a break in 2020 because of the Corona pandemic, but preparations for the 15th edition are now gathering pace. Under the slogan “Close together from afar", the organisers are in the process of putting together the main elements of the trade fair which will take place in virtual form. The dates are Thursday 29 April to Sunday, 2 May 2021. “As we do this, we are assembling exciting content that is important and topical for the jazz scene. We’ll also be facilitating both one-on-one discussions and meetings in larger groups," says Sybille Kornitschky who runs jazzahead! for MESSE BREMEN. Exhibitors and trade participants can register for “jazzahead! digital 2021" now by paying the registration fee at jazzahead.de. Pricing options, general information and conditions can be found on the website.

Conferences and panels, networking, 32 showcasing bands: Full program available in early March

What is already clear is that the program of the virtual edition will be very similar to what visitors are familiar with from the face-to-face events in Bremen. “Registered participants will be able to take part interactively in panel sessions online, discuss and network with new and old acquaintances in various settings, and also see performances and interviews featuring the 32 showcase bands," says Kornitschky. In order to take into account time zone differences, the short concerts and the industry specialist program will be offered both live-streamed and on-demand. As usual, the conference program consists of jazzahead! panels – this time especially focusing on promoters and music export – as well as sessions from the exhibitors. The complete program will be available from the beginning of March at jazzahead.de.

Package deal for trade participants and exhibitors

Via our online platform, all exhibitors and trade participants who have registered and paid the fee will have access to the digital trade fair—including the networking tool-kit, the 32 showcase concerts and all events in the conference program. In addition, they will be able to participate in the monthly Virtual Sessions featuring a succession of teams of experts on relevant topics. For the next session, experts and industry insiders will discussed the implications of Brexit on Thursday, 28 January, at 3 pm (CET) under the title “What's jazz got to do with it?" (see video below).

And there’s more: registered participants will have exclusive access to the first special edition of a digital matchmaking session, “Overseas Relations", the chance to network with industry contacts matching their own profile. This event, which is jointly organised by MESSE BREMEN and the Enterprise European Network (EEN), will take place in the run-up to the trade fair—from Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 March 2021. And there’s another way to put the remaining time before “jazzahead! digital 2021" starts to good use: take a look at the new jazzahead! blog, which offers all kinds of fascinating and varied content.

About jazzahead!

Launched in 2006, jazzahead! is the largest jazz trade fair in the world. Having grown steadily, the industry gathering is also known as the place where the jazz family gets together – the event has never lost its family character. The 40 showcase concerts during the fair and the jazzahead! Festival are also aimed at the general public. Since 2011, this festival, together with around 60 cooperation partners, has presented the cultural scene of a different partner country each year, plus bands from all over the world as part of the CLUBNIGHT, in which around 30 venues in Bremen participate. Since 2015, jazzahead! has been funded by the German Federal Government‘s Commissioner for Culture and the Media. In 2019 it was awarded the title of European Cultural Brand of the Year.
