Jazz stars Fats Domino and Harry Connick Jnr are being lined up to take part in a New Orleans-style Mardi Gras in Edinburgh, Scotland to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Organisers are planning a weekend-long jazz and blues extravaganza in the new year and talks are under way to bring the world famous New Orleans musicians to the event, along with the mayor of the stricken Louisiana city, Ray Nagin.
Top UK jazz stars like Jamie Cullum, Jools Holland and Chris Barber are also being pencilled in for appearances. The Grassmarket could be transformed into a festival zone, complete with Cajun food and New Orleans music.
Lord Provost Lesley Hinds and the organisers of the Edinburgh International Jazz Festival are behind the ambitious vision.
