Mark your calendars for Jazz En Clave, Chicago's First Annual Latin Jazz Festival, this November 10-14, featuring Eddie Palmieri, Manny Oquendo, Andy Gonzalez, Bobby Sanabria, John Santos, and many more. Concerts, jam sessions, lectures, and master classes with the pros will take place at HotHouse, the Chicago Historical Society, and the Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center.

As the unique fusion of American Jazz and Caribbean percussion that developed in immigrant communities throughout the Americas in the Twentieth Century, Latin Jazz represents not just music but dance, history, and the borrowing, blending, and sharing of cultural traditions that has shaped American music.

A team of community-based organizers including Mike Reyes, Carlos Flores, Mervin Mendez, and Carlos Garcia, worked with HotHouse staff to plan the concerts and educational events that will comprise the festival. Like the music itself, Jazz en Clave is a collaborative event, working in conjunction with a range of Chicago communities and organizations, including the Chicago Historical Society and their exhibit, Latin Jazz: La Perfecta Combinacion, as well as the Ruiz Belvis and the Puerto Rican Cultural Centers.

With five days of multi-arts events, Jazz en Clave will explore the roots, celebrate the innovators, and cultivate the next generation of Latin Jazz music.
