Jazz at the Bistro in St. Louis to Host Student Ensemble

ST. LOUIS / July 28, 2004

Jazz at the Bistro is proud to announce an exciting new initiative to nurture future generations of jazz musicians. Partnering with THF Realty, the leading real estate developer in the St. Louis community, Jazz at the Bistro has created the THF All-Star Student Ensemble. In keeping with their own commitment to improving our community, THF Realty has pledged $25,000 over a five-year period in support of this special program.

Six high-school students were chosen through area-wide auditions for the 2004-2005 season. The students who will be participating are: Brian Fritz, tenor saxophone; Anna Garcia, trumpet; Peter Schlamb, vibraphone; Wade Ridenour, piano; Jason Todd, Bass; and Christopher Sell, drums. This small combo will perform not only at Jazz at the Bistro, but also at area community events in an effort to raise awareness of jazz music, history and education. In turn, these emerging musicians will have a chance to receive coaching and training from artists of national and international stature that grace the Jazz at the Bistro stage.
