The Litchfield Jazz Festival and Japanalia announce Jazz & Japanalia, a event benefiting Litchfield Jazz Camp scholarships on Saturday, March 7th from 11 AM 7 PM at Kent Green in Kent, CT. The One-Day-Only Mega Sale offers 50-80% off designer clothes for all seasons, light refreshments provided by the Fife n Drum Restaurant and music provided by the Litchfield Jazz Festival. To add to the excitement, the Litchfield Jazz Festival, which will be held for the first time in Kent, CT (July 31 August 2), will announce the 2009 artist line-up during the event. Twenty percent of all proceeds support scholarship for students in need at this summers Litchfield Jazz Camp (July 5 -31) at the Kent School.
Japanalia was founded in Tokyo in 1976 and brought to Hartford, Connecticut in 1981 by designers Eiko Sakai and Dan Blow. Originally, Eiko and Dan worked only with kimono silk. Today, they use an array of beautiful, quality fabrics to design clothes for men and women that combine Japanese influence with a contemporary sense of style.
The Litchfield Jazz Festival, founded in 1996, is pleased to make Kent its new home. The Festival was named, for the second time, a Top 100 Event & Festival this year. Diana Krall, who made her US festival debut on the first Litchfield Jazz Fest, called it one of the best festivals, and the New York Times hailed it a model jazz lineup. The 2009 line-up will be officially announced at Jazz & Japanalia, and tickets will be on sale soon. Festival weekend kicks off on Friday, July 31, with the Friends of the Festival Gala at the Morrison Gallery in Kent and continues from noon 10 PM on Saturday and Sunday, August 1 and 2. The weekend includes the best in jazz, artists and crafters, varied foods, student performances and master classes. Tickets range from $35 for one day on the lawn to $350 for a 3-day VIP pass. Families are encouraged to attend with children under 12 free on the lawn.
Shoppers are encouraged to wear unitards or swimsuits as private dressing rooms may not be available.
