Charlies last pick was to have Plas Johnson perform on his birthday, January 3rd so Plas will be here with John Heard, Roy McCurdy and Jon Mayer. On the 29th, Don Menza will do a repeat performance of the Tribute to Stan Getz that he did last January for Charlies birthday celebration.
Our outstanding jazz performances
This January include great big bands, a birthday celebration for Roger Neumann on the 4th, the return of Red Holloway for two performances on the 9th and 10th, three amazing vocalists Denise Donatelli on the 8th, Janis Mann on the 22nd and Julie Kelly on the 24th, Joe LaBarbera's great quintet returns on the 15th, Chuck Berghofer's outstanding trio featuring Chuck, Terry Trotter and Peter Erskine perform on the 27th, and all of your favorite LA musicians will be here as well.
Our Monday big band performances
Returning with the Steve Huffsteter Big Band on the 5th, the Carl Saunders (carlsaunders.com) Be Bop Big Band on the 12th, Med Flory Supersax Jazzwave Big Band on the 19th, and the Frank Capp Juggernaut Big Band on the 26th playing great Basie Band charts. Please come out to support the efforts of these great jazz musicians doing what they do best. There is a $20 cash cover charge every Monday which is good for the entire evening. Reservations required for big band nights.
Our Friday and Saturday
The line ups always feature exceptional guests and they perform with the John Heard Trio (John Heard (heardworks.com), bass; Roy McCurdy, drums, Tom Ranier, Jon Mayer, Lanny Hartley, John Beasley or Theo Saunders, piano. Our outstanding lineup of guests include Lanny Morgan on the 2nd, Plas Johnson (plasjohnson.com) on the 3rd for Charlie Os Birthday Night, the great Red Holloway on the 9th and 10th, Justo Almario on the 16th, Don Menza on the 17th, Pete Christlieb on the 23rd, Julie Kelly on the 24th, Azar Lawrence on the 30th, and Rickey Woodard on the 31st. Reservations are highly recommended for all Friday and Saturday performances.
Sunday performances feature
The Roger Neumann 4Tet on the 4th and well be celebrating Rogers birthday that night, the Theo Saunders Quartet featuring Zane Musa on the 11th, the Benn Clatworthy Quartet on the 18th, the Roy McCurdy Trio on the 25th featuring Roy, Tom Ranier and Chris Conner. Reservations are suggested for Sunday nights.
Our Tuesday performances
The great Be Bop sound of the CJS Quintet featuring Chuck Johnson and James Smitty Smith on the 6th, the Lorca Hart Trio (Lorca, Josh Nelson, Edwin Livingston) on the 13th, the Zane Musa Quartet on the 20th, and the Chuck Berghofer Trio Featuring Chuck, Terry Trotter and Peter Erskine on the 27th. Please make reservations for these Tuesday performances.
Our Wednesday guests
Include the Tony Inzalaco Quintet on the 7th (Tony, Benn Clatworthy, Nolan Shaheed, Theo Saunders, Chris Colangelo), the Jack Sheldon California Cool Quartet on the 14th and 28th, and Chuck Berghofers Midnight Jazz Band on the 21st (Chuck, Gary Foster, Tom Ranier, Joe LaBarbera). Reservations suggested for these performances especially for Jack Sheldon!
Thursday performances feature
The Denise Donatelli Quartet on the 8th, the Joe LaBarbera Quintet (Joe, Bill Cunliffe, Bob Sheppard, Tom Warrington, Rob Lockhart) on the 15th, Janis Mann with the Bill Cunliffe Trio (Bill, Roy McCurdy, Chuck Berghofer) on the 22nd, and the Don Menza Tribute to Stan Getz in loving memory of Charlie O on the 29th which features four saxes, piano, bass and drums. Reservations recommended for these Thursday performances especially for the 29th.
