Composer and Vietnam Veteran Kimo Williams performs with his Symphonic-BigBand-Rock ensemble, KIMOTION, featuring Vinnie Colaiuta (former drummer for Frank Zappa and Sting).

Performing music from their latest release “TRACKING and from their 1990 release “WAR STORIES".

KIMOTION ensemble member, actor/musician Gary Sinise, co-produced and performed on electric bass for the TRACKING release.

In 1970 Kimo Williams was a soldier in Vietnam. As a combat engineer his unit was responsible for clearing the dense jungle in preparations for combat fire bases. ...

Kahil El'zabar Receives "Percussionist Of The Year" Award From Jazz Journalist Association

At a benefit for the Jazz Foundation of America on Wednesday June 19, 2002, Kahil El'Zabar was presented with the “Percussionist of the Year" award by the Jazz Journalist Association. The results were based on votes cast by the 400 member J.J.A. international membership.

Gwen Cleveland (vocalist) who was known for her hard driving blues died on June 7th, 2002 after suffering illness. Funeral Services were held at Quinn-Fogarty Funeral Home in Flushing, New York on Wednesday, June 12th, 2002. Reverend Dale. R. Lind, conducted services. Many top musicians showed up to pay their respects some of which included Walter Perkins,Walter Kelly,Ulysses Slaughter,Ed Stoute, John Dooley,bass,Hank Johnson,and many others.

Alyn Shipton Wins 'Jazz Writer of the Year' Award

Alyn Shipton has won the award for 'Jazz Writer of the Year' for his New History of Jazz in the British Hamlet Jazz Awards. The prize was presented at the Pizza on the Park ceremony by Humphrey Lyttelton, who described the book as 'the definitive history of jazz'.

Alyn's book has also been nominated the in the 'Best Book About Jazz' category in the prestigious Jazz Journalists Association awards, which take place today in New York.
