Alyn Shipton wins the 'Jazz Writer of the Year' Award for his New History of Jazz in the British Hamlet Jazz awards. The prize was presented at last week's ceremony by Humphrey Lyttelton, who described the book as 'the definitive history of jazz'.

Vocalist Mark Miller continues to book and appear in the Sunday night Chaya Jazz series at Chaya Brasserie in Beverly Hills at 8741 Alden Drive.
