Mansfieldians & Jazz Ensemble to Combine for Concert

The Mansfieldians, directed by Sheryl Monkelien, and the Mansfield University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Michael Galloway, will join forces for a concert on Friday October 17 at 8 pm in the Steadman Theatre. Also performing on the program will be MU faculty member, saxophonist Kevin Hoferer. Hoferer teaches jazz improvisation and directs the MU Jazz Combo and the newly formed MU Jazz Lab Band. Margaret “Rusty" Monroe, 89, the centerpiece of Toledo's jazz scene for decades and whose club, Rusty's Jazz Cafe, became a landmark, died yesterday afternoon at a Punta Gorda, Fla., nursing care center.
