ORNETTE: MADE IN AMERICA is the last film by the great American independent filmmaker Shirley Clarke. She portrays Ornette Coleman, one of the most influential and controversial musicians in jazz. Clarke uses performances of Coleman's ”Skies of America”, a composition for symphonic orchestra and jazz combo, as her point of departure. NYC Performing Arts Spaces is pleased to announce an open call for applications for the Spring 2010 round of the Con Edison Musicians' Residency: Composition Program.

New York City-based composers in all genres are invited to apply for one of six (6) three-month residencies at one of three cultural facilities.
