Bandcamp to Start Revenue Sharing with Artists

All good things come to an end and Bandcamp as a free service is no exception.
The name-your-price music and merch distribution platform will being revenue sharing with the artists on its site.

NPD Survey: iTunes in Cloud Worth $1b in First Year

A new NPD Group study based on just under 4000 consumer interviews predicts that between 7 and 8 million iTunes users in the U.S. have a strong interest in paid music subscription options.

Bandcamp to Switch from Free to Paid Service

After several years of offering free services, music marketing and sales platform Bandcamp announced today that it will be switching to a paid platform in early August. Bandcamp will charge artists 15% of each transaction, dropping to 10% as soon as an artist, management or label's all-time sales exceed $5,000. The revenue share rate for existing accounts will be based on all sales to date.
