Napster, the Movie; What Happened to the Film?

Source: HypeBot
October 5, 2010

With all this fuss over The Social Network, it got Tamara Conniff, the founder of The Comet, wondering why a movie about Napster never found its way into production. It would make a riveting plot. All of the elements are there and like The Social Network, those plot pieces that aren't there could be made up along the way. Plus, a number of creditable authors have written accounts about the service—that aren't mostly based on speculation and fictionalization. Not that ...

And one of the most tedious parts of the process is the boredom. Sitting around hospitals, waiting for tests to come back...I'm a guy that likes to always be busy with 10 projects at once, so 6 months stuck in chemo was just not my speed. I made up projects ...

Trent Reznor's Odd Strategy for Movie Soundtrack

Source: HypeBot
September 23, 2010

Already, speculations are being made that, in releasing the soundtrack for The Social Network, Trent Reznor has abandoned the very business model that he defined. There's the obvious email address for a free download widget. Then, the options are as follows: CD, HD Blu-Ray audio, and vinyl. Missing from the equation appears to be Trent's signature and now famous touch of connecting with his fans and giving them reasons beyond the music to buy the higher-priced, more innovative tiers. I ...

A Movie About a Guitarist ... by a Guitarist

Source: The Augmented Ear by John Patten
September 24, 2010

One of the coolest things about Steve Vai is that he is committed to his love of the instrument and music. Many artists have enjoyed artistic freedom, controlling their output and being able to maintain their visions thanks to his Favored Nations label. Several years ago, Vai greenlighted a movie bio-pic about the legendary Hank Garland, called Crazy. I hadn't heard of this movie before coming across it on Netflix, and enjoyed it immensely. Granted, it's a fictionalization, and gives ...
