Joel E. Siegel Dies; Film Professor, Critic

Joel E. Siegel, 63, a retired Georgetown University English professor who also was a lyricist, music producer and freelance film and music critic for the Washington City Paper, died of spinal meningitis March 11 at George Washington University Hospital.

Dr. Siegel mostly taught film studies at Georgetown, where he was a faculty member for 32 years, until 1998. He offered the college's earliest courses on film studies and built the ...

Chuck Niles, Legendary Jazz DJ, Dies

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Chuck “Be-Bop Charlie" Niles, whose velvety baritone voice and music knowledge earned him the only Hollywood Walk of Fame star awarded to a jazz radio host, died Monday. He was 76. On February 15, 2004, the nursing staff at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center informed Gil Coggins' family that he quietly and peacefully took one last shallow breath and slipped away into the spiritual world. On June 8, 2003, Gil was involved in a serious auto accident on Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills, NY, and his body was unable to recover from his numerous injuries, complications, and pre-existing conditions.
