David “Fathead” Newman succumbed to pancreatic cancer yesterday, Tuesday January 20, 2009. He was 75.

All About Jazz is deeply saddened to report the news that one of its long-time contributors, Michael P. Gladstone, passed away on January 3, 2009 following a long battle with cancer. He was only 66. In the six years that Mike devoted to AAJ, he covered artists ranging from established names including John Abercrombie, Herbie Hancock and Maria Schneider to up-and-comers like David Binney, Edward Simon, Leonia Ardizzone and Nordic Connect.

Patrick McGoohan, a two-time Emmy Award-winning actor who starred as a British spy in the 1960s TV series Secret Agent and gained cult status later in the decade as the star of the enigmatic series The Prisoner, has died. He was 80.
McGoohan, whose career involved stage, screen and TV, died Tuesday at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica after a short illness, said Cleve Landsberg, McGoohan's son-in-law. The family did not provide further details.

Jackie Rebora, a longtime Los Angeles nightclub owner, hotel executive and restaurateur, died of complications from pneumonia and heart failure Jan. 5 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She was 77 and lived in Beverly Hills.

Ricardo Montalban, the suave leading man who was one of the first Mexican-born actors to make it big in Hollywood and who was best known for his role as Mr. Roarke on TV's Fantasy Island, has died. He was 88.
