Saxophonist and Composer Sarah Manning Signed to Posi-Tone Records

New York City based alto saxophonist and composer Sarah Manning has signed on to Posi-Tone Records and will be recording a new album this fall, with an anticipated release of Spring or Summer of 2010. The Posi-Tone release will be Manning’s third album as a leader, and the first to feature her regular quartet, Shatter the Glass, with Art Hirahara on piano, Linda Oh on bass and Kyle Struve on drums. It is if you listen to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

According to Arts Technica, the IFPI is claiming that “If current trends hold, U.S. digital music downloads will rake in more money than physical formats next year. Worldwide, digital will overtake physical by 2016.”

The United States is ahead of the technological curve, with consumers buying “the most digital music relative to their total music purchases.”

Jackson's Death Officially a Homicide

Michael Jackson's death has officially been ruled a homicide, as the Los Angeles County Coroner has released their report on the King of Pop's death.

The report cites “acute propofol intoxication" as the main cause of Jackson's death, officially linking the powerful anesthetic to his demise.

The report also lists “benzodiazepine effect" as another factor that contributed to his death, due to the drugs midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine and ephedrine being found in his system as well.
