Facebook Social Contagion Study Reveals Most Effective Forms of Content Sharing

Source: HypeBot

A scientific study of “social contagion through viral product design" reveals some insights regarding the varying strengths of passive and active sharing that ultimately seem rather common sense. The short version is that “passive" broadcasting of user actions utilizing the app, such as a response to a movie that is ...

Midem Charts a New Course, Without Midemnet

Midem Charts a New Course, Without Midemnet

Source: HypeBot

Producer Reed Midem is shifting gears at its signature music industry mega-convention Midem. Presumably in response to a shrinking pool of label, distribution and publishing attendees, the conference is spinning an “all-new midem" (new logo to left) that adds more “D.I.Y., technology and brands" to the mix. Gone is popular decade old sub-conference MidemNet, which had become an essential gathering for the global music tech community. With tech no longer an outlier, but rather shaping the industry's future, why not ...

Revenue Innovation for the Indie Musician

Revenue Innovation for the Indie Musician

Source: HypeBot

I recently wrote about Revenue Innovation For The Music Industry with a couple of related examples of how musicians can apply these ideas to their own activities. However, I'd like to get more specific for those musicians interested in how the work of researchers at IBM might relate more directly to their revenue opportunities. Though not every example I give is of an indie musician, they are examples of how such work is directly relevant to musicians and small labels ...
