Buddy Defranco and Kenny Drew

Buddy Defranco and Kenny Drew

Clarinetist Buddy DeFranco and pianist George Shearing toyed with a quintet format in the late 1940s. But before they could record together, the two went their separate ways in 1949. Buddy signed with Capitol and Shearing with MGM, bringing in vibraphonist Margie Hyams to assume Buddy's sound. Don Byas in Paris, 1946-54

The buildings and monuments of Paris were largely untouched during World War II by the Nazi occupation. Paris also endured little in the way of Allied bombing or German sabotage during its liberation. The city was too pretty. As a result, its infrastructure remained intact. Oddly enough, Steele just might find more success beyond that less-than-credible program; several tracks on this collection have already found their way onto regional and even U.S. radio, FM and online. Steele has a warm, ...

Kelley Suttenfield New CD "Among The Stars” -- Out Now!

Among The Stars is the second release for acoustic jazz vocalist Kelley Suttenfield. Known for her “passionate delivery that can penetrate hearts" (JazzReview), once again she embarks on a musical exploration—this time traversing through jazz and singer-songwriter territories, and landing squarely in the space between. This stripped-down and exceptionally intimate duo recording is a stark contrast to her multi-layered and well received debut CD Where Is Love? Complemented by the “beautiful and soulful" timbre of guitarist Tony Romano (Just Jazz ...
