Source:

From the cosmos the Eulipion vibration sprung forth on the planet. Beings of light, love and creativity brought new sounds and healing to earth, “a duty-free gift for the traveler." Over the eons, this unique frequency of being has been passed from generation to generation. Mark Fox is an avatar of this vibration and energy, a “Neulipion" brought into the music world by previous carriers of the light—Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Archie Shepp, Yusef Lateef, Jimmy Hopps, Pharoah Sanders and the ...

Enrico Rava, the doyen of Italian jazz, joined forces with Joe Lovano, masterful US tenorist of Sicilian heritage, for a brief tour in November 2018. On this album, recorded live at Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica, the two masters lead a spirited quintet that includes lyrical pianist Giovanni Guidi, dynamic drummer Gerald Cleaver and virtuosic bassist Dezron Douglas (making his ECM debut here). Well-loved tunes by the two bandleaders form the core of the program, including Enrico’s intricate “Interiors” and ...

Vocalist Kelley Suttenfield Reimagines Neil Young On When We Were Young: Kelley Suttenfield Sings Neil Young
Source:
Mouthpiece Music
Kelley Suttenfield is a versatile jazz singer with a warm, intimate voice that’s perfect for her newest project, When We Were Young – Kelley Suttenfield Sings Neil Young (September 13, 2019). The album includes some of Neil Young’s most famous songs, as well as a couple of tunes written but never performed by him. Tackling songs that are long associated with the pop legend is an audacious endeavor; however, this is not a tribute album. Rather, Suttenfield and her collaborator ...

John Klopotowski: Live in S.F.
Source:
JazzWax by Marc Myers
Between the fall of 1980 and late 1987, guitarist John Klopotowski studied and performed with tenor saxophonist Warne Marsh. A cool-jazz founder in 1949 with pianist Lennie Tristano, alto saxophonist Lee Konitz, guitarist Billy Bauer, bassist Arnold Fishkin and drummer Harold Granowsky, Marsh played high on the instrument's register and had a dry, vibrato-less tone. Like Boy Scout knots, smoke signals and bebop (which preceded cool), the music was a secret language based on Tristano's polymorphic approach to improvisation. To ...
