This International Award intends to honour the memory of the legendary Roman Saxophonist Massimo Urbani, one of the best musician of the jazz history after Charlie “Yardbird" Parker, through the finding and enhancement of National and International up-and-coming young artists.

Magazine's Annual Music Poll Honors Up-and-Coming Pianist in March Issue Playboy's March “Sex and Music" issue has added a new category to its 48-year-old annual music poll. Pianist Jason Moran has been named the magazine's first-ever Jazz Artist of the Year. The ASCAP Foundation Names Winners of Annual Young Jazz Composer Awards

New York, NY, January 26, 2005: ASCAP Foundation President Marilyn Bergman has announced the winners of the 2004 / 2005 ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Awards. The program, established in 2002, was created to encourage gifted American jazz composers to create new works. Composers from throughout the United States ranging in age from 12 to 30 competed for the cash awards. The winning works were selected through a juried national competition.
