HP is Getting into the Cloud Music Business

Hewlett Packard will join Amazon and could beat Google and Apple in getting into the cloud music business. The news comes via a power point presentation being used to sell small and medium businesses on its upcoming TouchPad tablet computer scheduled to ship early this summer.

According to one slide captured by preCentral, the TouchPad will come with software that uses cloud servers to sync and remotely store music. HP will also will leverage a “smart algorithm" to ensure that the users most played songs are cached locally on the device presumably to avoid delays in playback.This feature would appear to best Amazon;s current cloud music solution and is likely draw protests from record labels.

The presentation also alludes to streaming music to HP smartphones too if they have been updated to webOS 3.0.
