Howard Fishman's Biting Fish Brass Band @ Nublu

Source:

View read count
The Biting Fish Brass Band features Downtown favorite Howard Fishman fronting a New Orleans-style brass band and performing an eclectic, funky repertoire that careens from street-beat style traditional gospel to surprising covers to Fishman's own quirkly, fun originals.

A former New Orleans resident, Fishman brings his deep affection for Louisiana music to bear, with references to classic R&B stylists Smiley Lewis and Professor Longhair, jazz legends Danny Barker and Jelly Roll Morton, and even explores some of the region's rural Cajun repertoire. This is small band with a mighty, infectious sound, suitable for both happy listening and ridiculous dancing.

Transcends time and idiom.
