Harris-Stowe State University Presents "A Night of Jazz Greats"

Harris-Stowe State University, home of the Don and Heide Wolff Jazz Institute, will host a benefit concert of jazz greats on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 7 p.m., in the Dr. Henry Givens Jr. Administration Buildings Main Auditorium. Atty. Don Wolff will serve as the emcee.

The concert will feature the sounds of drummer and vibraphone player Chuck Redd; trumpeter Randy Sandke; trombonist Wycliffe Gordon; jazz tenor saxophonist and record producer Houston Person; pianist Rossano Sportiello; bassist Nicki Parrot; drummer Eddie Locke; St. Louis very own Clark Terry, trumpeter and flugelhornist; bassist Jim Widner and songstress Denise Thimes. This outstanding lineup has never before been seen together, and Harris-Stowe is proud to have such a diverse group of jazz legends perform on its campus.

Tickets can be purchased through Metrotix. Prices are as follows: main floor seats, $30; balcony seats, $20 and students pay $10 with a valid student ID. All proceeds will go toward expanding the Wolff Jazz Institute.

The Wolff Jazz Institute on Harris-Stowes campus is comprised of a portion of Don Wolffs multi-million dollar jazz collection of records and CDs, as well as other memorabilia. Wolff, a former member of the Universitys Board of Regents, is a well-known jazz enthusiast and host of I Love Jazz, which is featured on HEC-TV, Live365.com and Classic 99 KFUO FM.
