He is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger known for his soulful guitar work and boundary-crossing musical vision. Drawing deep inspiration from Cuban, Brazilian, and jazz traditions, his approach reflects not heritage, but decades of immersion, study, and heartfelt connection to the music he loves.
Originally from Neosho, Missouri, McClintock now splits his time between Paris, Havana, and Kansas City—each place contributing to his globally informed sound. He is the founder of Cubanisms, a Latin jazz fusion ensemble rooted in rhythms from Brazil to Cuba, blending traditional and Afro-Cuban grooves with contemporary jazz sensibilities. His past work also includes long-standing collaborations with Ensemble Iberica, a group dedicated to music from the Iberian Peninsula, and the Americana-rooted Slim Hanson & the Poor Choices, showcasing his stylistic versatility across genres.
