Guitarist Ben Granfelt & His Band to Highlight the Second Night of Abu Dhabi Jazz Festival 2008

Abu Dhabi Jazz Festival comeback, with its electric blend of international jazz, blues, funk, rock, soul and contemporary artists, combined with performances from Dubai-based popular musicians, is sure to be the calendar highlight of every music fan.

Toured successfully with Deep Purple, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash, the Ben Granfelt Band became the “not to miss’ band with a record of more than 450 worldwide shows.

Its immense success at Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival 2008 and the audience call back; nominated the band to electrify the Abu Dhabi Jazz Festival comeback stage with a remarkable appearance on the 2nd night of Abu Dhabi Jazz Festival 2008.

The 2nd night will also feature one of the essential fixtures on the jazz scene, Natalie Williams. With three albums under her belt; she has performed as a solo artist all over the UK and at international festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival and Katmandu Jazz Festival. She also won best video at the 2007 Urban Music Awards for her single ‘This Girl’. Natalie is currently working on her new album to be released end of 2008.

The diverse line-up also includes performance by the rising band “Color Of Rhythm” whom is currently recording the premier CD to be released in early 2009. Known as an ensemble of many forces, both musically and in the personalities that compose it, the band derives its direction from the elements of Funk, Jazz, Latin, and African.

With his own distinctive sounds, Paul Akiki will start up the 2nd night of the festival. Best described as a musician who combines sensual lyrics and improvised rhythms, Paul's musical realm emerges from behind his guitar and piano. With a record of several remarkable tracks, he strongly became an essential figure of the local music scene along with his highly talented band fellows.
