Guelph Jazz Festival - September 4-8 2002
This year the Festival will feature a number of large-scale projects. New this year also is the first part of a two year thematic focus on cross-disciplinary collaborations (involving jazz and dance, jazz and poetry, jazz and film, jazz and storytelling). This will culminate in 2003 with a 10th year anniversary celebration, featuring a number of new projects, including a specially commissioned jazz opera.
The featured artist at this year's Guelph Jazz Festival is William Parker. In so many ways, William Parker's lifework exemplifies the spirit and the scope of the Guelph Jazz Festival: as a composer, improviser, poet, playwright, filmmaker, community figure, and educator.
