Gloria Cooper Sextet CD Release Party Tuesday, February 7, 2006 Sweet Rhythm Jazz Club 88 Seventh Avenue South (between Grove and Bleecker Streets) New York, NY 10014 Reservations: 212-255-3626 www.sweetrhythmny.com Sets: 8:00 PM & 10:00 PM Music Charge: $15.00 Minimum: $10.00 www.gloriacooper.net Vocalist/Pianist Gloria Cooper and a stellar band will perform songs from her new CD titled “Dedicated To You" on Origin Records. The repertoire includes compositions from the book “Sing Jazz!" published by Second Floor Music, and includes songs by such notable jazz musicians as Hank Mobley, James Williams, Tommy Turrentine, Renee Rosnes, and many more - with arrangements by Don Sickler. Featuring: Gloria Cooper - Piano/Voice Jay Brandford - Tenor and Soprano Saxophone Ben Cassorla - Guitar Vince Cherico - Drums Tim Givens - Bass Don Sickler - Trumpet/Flugelhorn/Arranger “Gloria Cooper provides a delicate phrasing and pacing not heard since another musician, Chet Baker, especially on the title tune. For Gloria Cooper is an original, a jazz musician's jazz singer. Don Sickler produced this wonderful CD and recorded with the capable hands of Rudy Van Gelder. When you hear “Seabreeze" and “Something Unusual" with Gloria's lifting gentle lyrics and Don Sickler's sinuous flugelhorn, you'll be back in a 'Baby Breeze' state of mind."
