- Cork Jazz Festival, 23-26 October 2009, GMF is forming a new partnership with the Festival starting this year and on going. It will run 3 day programme of workshops and concerts.
Music and health research GMF is also partnering with a group of NHS clinicians on an action research project to document the health benefits of music making. The group is led by Prof. John Goodacre, director of the Cumbria and Lancashire Clinical Research Network, who invited GMF to participate after attending the GMF summer school in Tuscany last year.
Multi-disciplinary jazz events Through a link with the clinical group, Stephen is now collaborating with Charlotte Alcock at Music and Change and Bob Breen, a world-class martial artist with a teaching academy based in Hackney, to stage workshops mixing music and martial artists to engage young people in the Camden area. A second multi-disciplinary event, bringing together GMF musicians and a company of improvisational actors, is also planned.
Corporate events and training GMF has been programming and providing music at a variety of corporate events--including the 2007 Black Excellence Awards, the Business Action on Health campaign?s 2007 launch, July 2008 Summer Drinks Party and October 2008 International Food Fest.
GMF has also launched the Nemo project, a half-day workshop promoting enhanced concentration, attention, awareness and listening skills in teams.
Education in schools GMF is leading a Big Band Bonanza series in 2009/10 with Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield , bringing in international GMF artists Edward Simon (piano) and Kevin Dean (trumpet) to work with pupils in workshops and performances.
Finally, the Stardust programme has finally taken off, with GMF taking the Real Jazz Quartet to Dovelands Primary School in Leicester earlier this month.
