A rare instance where the cast album is recorded before performances have officially begun

Ghostlight Records is proud to confirm plans to record the Original Broadway Cast Album of '13, A New Musical'. The recording will be released digitally as of 9/30, and will be available for purchase at The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre soon thereafter. A CD version will be in stores in time for the Holiday season. '13, A New Musical' is “A grown-up story about growing up, featuring the only all-teenage cast ever to hit Broadway..." Additional information about the show follows below.

The OCR will be recorded in New York City over Labor Day weekend, and will be Produced by Jeffrey Lesser and Jason Robert Brown, and Executive Produced by Ghostlight President Kurt Deutsch and Bill Rosenfield. This will be a rare instance where the cast album is recorded before performances have officially begun. Ghostlight is proud to continue their relationship with Jason Robert Brown, having already released the hugely successful cast album of The Last Five Years as well as his solo album, Wearing Someone Else's Clothes.

Final track listing for '13' will be available upon request next week, as will CD cover art.

'13, A New Musical' features music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years). The show begins previews on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 and officially opens at The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W. 45th Street) on Sunday, October 5, 2008. With a book by award winning children's author & songwriter Dan Elish ("Born Too Short, Confessions of an 8th Grade Basket Case") and veteran writer for TV and film Robert Horn ("Designing Women"), '13, A New Musical' is directed by Tony Award nominee Jeremy Sams (The Sound of Music in the West End) and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific). Tom Kitt (High Fidelity) is the Music Director.

Ghostlight has emerged as the standard bearer on the Broadway music scene. Their team is relentless in their efforts to promote the music of the most innovative new voices on the Broadway scene. Ghostlight's recent releases of the OCRs for Tony winners In The Heights and Passing Strange, as well as their single release featuring the winner of MTV's Legally Blonde The Musical competition, have brought the label acclaim for their innovative marketing techniques and their efforts to reach the next generation of Broadway music fans via iTunes, music videos and more. Coverage has ranged from Rolling Stone to USA TODAY to The New York Times, from Blender Magazine to Playbill to Billboard, from AP Radio to MyBroadway.com, and much more. In November, they will proudly release a recording that literally captures a moment in time, the highly anticipated, landmark CD Patti LuPone at Les Mouches.
