GEORGE WEIN ANNOUNCES SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR 51st ANNUAL NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL

NEW YORK, NY, September 9, 2009 - The world-renowned Newport Folk Festival in Newport, RI, which was founded in 1959 by George Wein and folk icon Pete Seeger, is available for sponsorship. The festival celebrated its 50th anniversary August 1 - 2, 2009, with more than 17,000 music fans in attendance.

Scheduled for July 30 - August 1, 2010, the Newport Folk Festival will bring immediate international recognition to the company that sponsors this music event which draws large numbers of people under age 40.

In announcing the new sponsor search, Mr. Wein said, “I am committed to continuing my dream and the legacy of the Newport Folk Festival. I will produce a festival in 2010 with or without a sponsor. However, the marketing, corporate awareness and public relations opportunities that a company will receive from association with this brand - with 51 years of great folk music in one of the world's most beautiful cities - are phenomenal and will totally complement the benefits of product advertising."

From its inaugural celebration, when Bob Gibson first introduced Joan Baez to the world, the Newport Folk Festival has been a premier musical event as well as a forum for music activists. Shortly after its inception, Ms. Baez brought a young Bob Dylan to the festival and the circle of innovation continued in 1965 when Dylan and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band went electric on the Newport stage. The tradition continues as folk legends, including Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins and others, not only return to Newport, but inspire the next generation of folk stars such as The Low Anthem, Gillian Welch, Iron &Wine, Deer Tick, Dala and more.

The 2010 Newport Folk Festival will feature at least 30 major names over three days on multiple stages.

“Rest assured that we are not simply basking in the excitement of the success of the 50th anniversary," said Mr. Wein. “We are already working on booking some of the biggest and best seasoned and up-and- coming talent. We urge corporations to consider the history of the Newport Folk Festival and come on board for what will undoubtedly be a most rewarding marketing decision."
