For 16 years, the Future Of Music Coalition has been supporting the agenda of musicians and composers as both a research and advocacy group. This year, they are expanding their efforts with new board members and initiatives.

The Future of Music Coalition has added two members to its Board of Directors. Jean Cook is a musician who formerly served FMC as Director of Programs, where she co-led the organization’s groundbreaking Artist Revenue Streams Project, and Jason Burns is a a respected music manager based in Canada.

Cook is a musician, producer and Program Associate for the Internet Freedom Initiative at the Ford Foundation. From 2005-2015, she directed research, education, and advocacy initiatives for Future of Music Coalition, and served as Interim Executive Director from 2009-2010. Most recently, she was the co-director of FMC’s Artist Revenue Streams research project, assembling one of the broadest and most ambitious existing data sets on US-based musician income.

Burns is a music manager at Arts & Crafts’ Toronto division, Craft Services. Jason previously ran Burnt Tree Entertainment, a Nova Scotia and Toronto based artist management organization for nine years. His current management roster includes Belle Game, Nobu and Daveed of Choir! Choir! Choir!, Hey Rosetta!, Plants and Animals, and Rich Aucoin.
