FREERANGE RECORDS TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM FROM TORONTO'S ROBERT STRAUSS ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2005

Quickly climbing the ranks of the broken beat community overseas, Canadian producer Robert Strauss unites sweet soul, funk, and tight electro beats with wide-eyed quickstep on his debut Quasars and Phasars (Freerange Records). Fall tour dates organized by Best Kept Secret to be announced in support of release.

About Quasars and Phasars:

“Fine-ass deep house and left-field disco" - URB

“Encompasses the best of the deep dance music scene, all wrapped up into one very fluid album" - BPM

“Struts, peacock-like, around the comfiest of grooves." - INTERNATIONAL DJ

“This album neatly illustrates Freerange's winning vision of dance music" - XLR8R

Twenty-Nine year old Canadian Robert Strauss began making music professionally over a decade ago. Playing keyboards and drums as a child and settling on guitar in his early teens, Robert began his musical career like most playing in high school rock bands eventually leading his group Life to a major recording deal in Canada. Robert’s goals have since remained unchanged, focusing on writing and producing his own, original material. Keeping in mind the guiding principles of making quality music with soul, Robert continues his musical journey into this second decade.

Says Robert, “I began to explore the electronic side of making music, which I hadn’t done since I was very young. I realized that there were galaxies of undiscovered music out there, the vast majority of which were quite beyond definition or category. To me the underground dance music scene finds us at exactly where our cultural pulse emanates. There is just so much great music out there, largely from independent labels, that it’s hard to keep up.”

Operating from his studio in Toronto, Canada, Robert’s music is just starting to break out internationally with recent releases on Osunlade’s Yoruba label as well as collaborations with Baatin from Slum Village. His stunning debut album is scheduled for release on Freerange Records worldwide in September, 2005.
