Freedom Jazz Dance: Hard Working Jazz This Labor Day Weekend
Hard Working Jazz This Labor Day Weekend
Freedom Jazz Dance This Sunday on WDCE 90.1 FM from 3-5 pm!
WDCE 90.1 FM University of Richmond Radio
Streamcast at www.wdce.org
Hello, Freedom Jazz cats. As the pressures of family life keep me from doing FJD on a regular slot, I am freelancing Freedom Jazz Dance and I’ll keep you posted any time I hit the airwaves. Of course, when I do surface, I promise nothing but the most compelling and hep modern jazz this side of the Village Vanguard.
So join me this Sunday from 1-3 for modern jazz from bebop to freebop and beyond on 90.1 FM WDCE and streamcast at www.wdce.org. I’m going to feature selections from McCoy Tyner, Gunnar Mossblad, Robert Jospe, Woody Shaw, Thelonious Monk, Shelly Manne, obscure pianist Joe Saye and the steamy Morgana King.
Call in at 804-289-UR90 to give your trash-or-treasure vote during my notorious Records From Aunt Ruth segment and compare jazz compositions during the FJD exclusive Two Of A Kind segment (registered, trademarked and servicemarked to ©2005 Freedom Jazz Dance Corp. Ltd. and subsidiaries thereof). Of course, the dusty grooves of rare vinyl and 78s will be on the menu as well. Hmmm, do those turntables play 78s? We’ll see.
Ken Hohman Freedom Jazz Dance Host
Got a jazz event to announce? A new recording? What was the name of that song?
Contact me at [email protected] and we’ll chit-chat.
While you’re at it, visit my good friends at All About Jazz, www.allaboutjazz.com and the Richmond Jazz Society, www.vajazz.org. Two resources no jazz cat can live without.
