WHEN: Saturday June 21, from 2-9PM
ADMISSION: FREE & Open-to-the-public

Waterside Plaza hosts several jazz groups on three stages as part of the city-wide Make Music New York Festival. Enjoy music on a beautifully-landscaped plaza with waterfront-views. Food vendors, a restaurant & bar, public restrooms and parking available. Limited seating. Lawn chairs & picnics welcome.

Below is the schedule for jazz performances:

Alina Brouwer
4-4:45PM PLAZA ENTRANCE STAGE

Alina Brouwer's fresh and breezy voice has been compared to Brazil's Astrud Gilberto and Spain's Ana Belen and Carmen Cuesta. Her sensuous and soulful songs, full of catchy melodies and progressions, captivate unsuspecting audiences. She combines her own repertoire with old, and not so old, songs, and manages to come out of it splendidly.

Da PhatFunk Clique
5-5:45PM WATERFRONT STAGE

Da Phatfunk Clique is a violin-led funk/jazz group performing both original and popular compositions, with an entertaining and mood-elevating vibe. Performing since 2001, Brian Ellis (bass) and Darrell Looney (violin) have assembled a five person group with a flair for the funky jazzy groove. These include Daryle Pooser (guitar), Frank Marconi (keyboards), and Andy Weintraub (drums). There are currently two CD releases, Pandemic Love (1999) and Audiophile Advisory (2006).

Jake Hertzog Trio
4-4:45PM and 6-7PM WATERFRONT STAGE

Jake Hertzog is the winner of the 2006 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition. He has performed many types of music all over the world and is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Jake has worked closely with jazz heavyweights Joe Lovano, Terri Lyne Carrington, Dave Samuels, Greg Hopkins and Phil Wilson.

Jay Scott & Grand Case Scenario
8-9PM PLAZA STAGE

Jay Scott has a voice that makes people stop in mid sentence and turn to the stage when they hear him for the first time. The Southampton Press, Jennett Russell said, “Catchy melodies hold a strong blues feel, but are mildly seasoned with a down home county warmth that helps convey the sincerity of each song. Scott's rich voice of gritty satin makes his music instantly compelling."

Michael Packer Blues Band
2-2:45PM PLAZA STAGE

Michael Packer Blues Band's latest release 'Bleecker-Bowery" is currently in stores nationwide and receiving national airplay. Veterans of the NYC music scene, the band appears regularly at BB Kings in Times Square. A “Best of Michael Packer" has been released and also reissues of his earlier recordings with Papa Nebo and Free Beer by Iris Music Group.

Michele Smith and The Project
2-2:45PM WATERFRONT STAGE

Tom Blatt brings his eclectic Jazz ensemble to Waterside Plaza.

Porter Singer
6-6:45PM PLAZA ENTRANCE

Precocious... delicate and nuanced, Porter's sensual voice and hypnotic piano combine for music that is not just heard, but absorbed and felt along with her. Porter is a first-rate songwriter/storyteller who accompanies herself beautifully on piano. She might be called a diamond in the rough if she didn't already shine so brightly.

Blaise Siwula
7-8PM PLAZA ENTRANCE

Blaise Siwula has a number of recordings released on Cadence Jazz Records, CIMP Records, Ayler Records and Konnex records. He has worked with a wide variety of creative musicians in the Jazz, Free Jazz, Free and New Music scene including Cecil Taylor, Tan Dun, William Parker, Sonny Simmons, Peter Kowald, Katsuyuki Itakura, Bern Nix, Dom Minasi and Bob Meyer. Siwula also created and curates an on going free music series called COMA at ABC no-Rio in New York since 1998.
