Rochester, NY-- Frank Sinatra Jr. & His Orchestra, Dee Dee Bridgewater with special guest Richard Bona Band, Boz Scaggs, and Al Green will headline the seventh annual Rochester International Jazz Festival (www.rochesterjazz.com) presented by M&T Bank. The nine-day Festival, June 13-21, will deliver a diverse lineup of creative improvised music with more than 800 artists from around the world performing in 250 concerts.
Two special ensemble concerts will be presented in the Eastman series:
* “Gillespiana" - A Tribute To Dizzy Gillespie with special guests Jeanie Bryson (Dizzy's daughter); Byron Stripling; Gerry Niewood and a 21-piece Jazz Orchestra conducted by Jeff Tyzik
* RIJF Jazz at the Philharmonic - an all-star jam session starring the stellar ensemble of Carmen Lundy, Houston Person, Eric Alexander, Vince Herring, Nicholas Payton, Jeremy Pelt, Slide Hampton, Peter Bernstein, Cedar Walton, Eric Reed, Peter Washington, David Williams, Kenny Washington, and Louis Hayes.

Kilbourn Concerts The Festival's Kilbourn Hall Concerts will feature the Al Foster Quartet, Lou Donaldson Quartet, John Scofield Trio, The Bad Plus, Slide Hampton & Friends, David Murray's Black Saint Quartet, Joe Locke & Friends, the Sliding Hammers, and Catherine Russell. Three concerts in this series - The Bad Plus, Slide Hampton and Catherine Russell - will be filmed in high definition by WXXI Television in Rochester for broadcast nationwide on PBS. This is the third year that WXXI will be filming concerts for national distribution. Six, half-hour shows filmed in high definition last year will be broadcast nationwide this year.
Nordic Series Back for its second year at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, the highly praised Nordic Series will showcase groups from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and the Faroe Islands, many of which have never played before in the U.S. The groups include the Timo Lassy Band, Ola Kvernberg Trio, Jacob Anderskov, Kristian Blak & Yggdrasil “Ravnating", Wildbird & Peacedrums, Iro Haarla Quintet, Beady Belle, Music Music Music and the ever popular Swedish trombonists, the Sliding Hammers.
Free Shows on Outdoor Stages! More than 59 free shows will be held on three outdoor stages, promising lively sounds in downtown streets for music fans of all ages. Shows will feature Cross Canadian Ragweed, Soulive, Kentucky Headhunters, Third World, The Skatalites, Joe Bonamassa and Medeski Martin & Wood and seventeen area high school bands. Other free shows will be at the Rochester Public Library downtown and aboard the Mary Jemison boat at Corn Hill Landing. Stages include:

Club Pass Series Grows A new venue, Christ Church on East Avenue, has been added to the Club Pass Series, co-presented by the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors, Presentation Source & Hamilton AV. This year's Club Pass Series will feature about 150 concerts.

About the Rochester International Jazz Festival (RIJF)
Founded in 2002, RIJF has become one of nation's largest and fastest growing music festivals, drawing fans from all across the U.S. and around the world to hear legendary Grammy award-winning artists and critically-acclaimed jazz and contemporary groups. Attendance has grown annually from 15,000 in 2002 to a record 121,000 in 2007. Each year the Festival makes a donation to support the Jazz Studies Scholarship Program it founded in 2002 at the Eastman School of Music.
RIJF is produced by John Nugent, founder, Co-Producer and Artistic Director, and Marc Iacona, Co-Producer and Executive Director. Nugent and Iacona also produce the 2008 PAETEC Music Tour. Nugent also produces the Stockholm Jazz Festival, which just celebrated its 23rd successful year. Nugent, a noted tenor sax player, has traveled the world with many jazz artists including Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Clark Terry, The Woody Herman Orchestra and The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Iacona, a Rochester native, business and community leader, avid trumpeter and supporter of the arts, is President of Simcona Electronics.

Nugent, a noted tenor sax player, has traveled the world with many jazz artists including Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Clark Terry, The Woody Herman Orchestra and The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Iacona, a Rochester native, business and community leader, avid trumpeter and supporter of the arts, is President of Simcona Electronics.
