“As event producers, our mantra and our driving force is to bring together diversity and the highest level of artistic creativity including all styles of the art form in our program," says John Nugent, Producer and Artistic Director. “The expansive landscape of jazz music's many forms and genres that have developed over the past several decades, will all come together and take center stage at this year's Festival."

“We're very proud to present hundreds of incredible improvising artists from the far reaches of Scandinavia to the boroughs of NYC, from downtown Rochester to the center of Russia, and from South America to the west coast of Africa," adds Nugent. “RIJF 2008 will see our strongest lineup assembled to date. About the Rochester International Jazz Festival (RIJF)

Founded in 2002, RIJF has become one of nation's largest and fastest growing music festivals, drawing fans from all across the U.S. and around the world to hear legendary Grammy award-winning artists and critically-acclaimed jazz and contemporary groups. Attendance has grown annually from 15,000 in 2002 to a record 121,000 in 2007. Each year the Festival makes a donation to support the Jazz Studies Scholarship Program it founded in 2002 at the Eastman School of Music.

RIJF is produced by John Nugent, founder, Co-Producer and Artistic Director, and Marc Iacona, Co-Producer and Executive Director. Nugent and Iacona also produce the 2008 PAETEC Music Tour. Nugent also produces the Stockholm Jazz Festival, which just celebrated its 23rd successful year. Nugent, a noted tenor sax player, has traveled the world with many jazz artists including Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Clark Terry, The Woody Herman Orchestra and The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Iacona, a Rochester native, business and community leader, avid trumpeter and supporter of the arts, is President of Simcona Electronics.
